Yet, confronted with a lack of evidence it would seem the default position would be to suspend belief, hence agnosticism is the most scientifically and logically correct viewpoint.
Oh please.... How is suspending belief the default position? This is just a cheap cop out to try to prove that atheists are intellectually superior to theists.
And maybe the evidence is wrong. It's happened before. And these scientists and theorists that come up with this stuff are humans, who are prone to mistakes.
If you want to put all your trust into that, and think it makes you more logical, then by all means have at it.

They are kept on such a rat-race treadmill that they barely have time for their own lives and families.
Funny you made this comment. I only studied with them for about a year, but there were times when I felt like I was barely keeping on the treadmill. I was constantly blitzed with new magazines, books, tracts, etc. There was no possible way I could keep up with everything.
Sounds like the WTS are a bunch of slave drivers. The more I learn from you people the more I'm thankful that God showed me a way out.

There have been local examples that's I've heard from relative in regard to the behoavior of jws who made a scene at funerals. When a priest came in to give a talk, some got up and left, making a public spectacle. On another occasion, some jws stood outside a church and did not go inside for the service - their standing was evdently intended to show their oppostion to the church. This actions created much ill-will from non-jws, who were perplexed as to why the jws simply did not show up, or at least act more discreetly, rather than make a public scene at a most sensitive time.
Stuff like this is why I brought it to their attention that with some of the rules in the Bible, common sense needs to be applied. After all, didn't Jesus reprimand the Pharisees for having a black and white, this is the way it's gonna be, attitude toward the laws? Aren't the JWs guilty of the same crime as the Pharisees?
C'mon, is it really going to kill you to listen to a priest once or go inside one church for one service? Good grief they can be so ridiculous about some things.

So called humanitarianism
by undercover inin another thread regarding the saturday afternoon convention program, 95stormfront wrote about the wts aid in helping victims of a storm:they again shamelessly plugged how they were oh-so- helpful to victims of allison, the rainstorm that put the city of houston underwater two years ago and how money poured in from witnesses around the world.
what they failed to mention was that all the supplies they used were either donated, or bought at very reduced rates using government grants, stored in donated space, all the labor was provided free by brothers in the building industry.
they also failed to mention that it took anywhere from 6 to 8 months for them to finish the work on individual homes and that after it was finished, you were presented with an invoice detailing all the hardware used with a total of what the retail cost of what those items would've been.

Wow...apparently not. Even as a JW, I always hated how the WTS constantly praised itself.
Yeah, that bothered me as well. What happened to the exalted one will be humbled? They don't sound too humble to me. They sure aren't bashful about proclaiming themselves the faithful and discreet slave or bragging about what the JWs have done in crisis situations.
But I notice they fail to mention that other groups aid in times of crisis too. Oh wait, I forgot nothing counts unless you are a JW. Sorry. I bad....

I think you have grounds for litigation against the JWs, particularly if they were harassing you at your place of employment, and you lost your job because of it.
Yeah. The whole thing is stupid. They have no right to harass you at work like that. They don't own you. I would definately take legal action.

Heh heh, I got a few chuckles out of your comments, Winston Smith. Outstanding job. I've thought about going undercover myself. I really want to help those people, but they don't seem to listen to me. I've brought up concerns before, and they just bounced off. But I'm not giving up. I don't like to leave friends behind.

I decided not to go to the DA. I almost did, but opted to go fishing with one of my buddies instead. Heh, heh.
Anyway, I still associated with them shortly after the DA. What really got me is when they talked about the people who put on the skits and the amount of time they had to have spent practicing. But yet don't they constantly drill into the average person's mind that he/she must spend the vast majority of his/her free time either studying, attending meetings, or going out in field service?
Now if these JW actors are putting gobs of time into producing skits that last only a few minutes and only shown during conventions, then how in the world are they putting in time studying and all that happy jazz?
Plus one lady talked about how kids got their pictures taken with the actors. I about s*** my pants. Don't they also make a big deal about idol worshipping? What do they call this?
Hypocrites!

How many of you were disfellowshipped?
by Oxnard Hamster injust curious.
i get the impression from reading posts that a great deal are.
i also noticed while i was studying with them that virtually everybody has/had a relative that was disfellowshipped or knew someone who is/was.

DF'd. Still not sure what the actual reason was.
You mean they don't always tell you the reason? That's stupid. What if you're innocent? What happened to innocent until proven guilty? If nothing else, let the person know what he or she is being accused of.
Geez, the more I hear about this group, the happier I am I decided to stop fooling with 'em.

plus questioned needing the W.T. to understand the Bible. They are mere humans, even as I am. Also, who consisted of the unbroken line of Witnesses after the Constantinian Church was established? In other words, fill in the gap until Charles Taze Russell.
Yeah, why should I have to believe every little thing some person tells me, especially when these people have made mistakes in the past? I brought that up, and they gave me the light keeps getting brighter line of garbage.
As for the gap until Russell, I wondered about that myself. If only JWs are saved, then what about people before the organization was formed? I asked this question several times and never got a straight answer.
